New Philip Glass release: Songs & Poems

Violist Amelia Hollander Ames performs Philip Glass's 2007 work "Songs & Poems," originally composed for solo cello, arranged thoughtfully by Christine Rutledge.

Songs and Poems was actually a reworking of Glass's piece "Chaotic Harmony" for voice and cello- combining two voices into one and designed to sing through the cello. The piece began to have outright Romantic connotations when renamed "Songs & Poems" and became one of Glass's most performed string works.

Moved into the world of the viola, "Songs & Poems" as played by Amelia Hollander Ames brings new dimensions to the work.

Philip Glass: Songs & Poems is released on Orange Mountain Music.
