Orquesta Nacional de España celebrates Philip Glass' carte blanche

Orquesta Nacional de España will offer a carte blanche dedicated to composer Philip Glass in the present season. This homage to the minimalist composer includes a co-commission of a Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, which will be performed by Katia and Marielle Labèque and conducted by Dennis Russell Davies together with The Light and Symphony no. 8 on 8, 9 and 10 April at Auditorio Nacional de Música of Madrid.

The carte blanche continues with an additional symphonic concert in which the orchestra will perform Days and Nights in Rocinha, the Double Concerto for violin and cello and Itapu with the prestigious soloists Tim Fain (violin) and Matt Haimovitz (cello). Dennis Russel Davies will conduct this concert on 22 May at Auditorio Nacional de Música.

The string ensemble of the orchestra will also perform the work Echorus at the Reina Sofía Museum of Modern Art of Madrid with Daniel Hope in the violin solo part and as conductor.
