Nuela Charles

Biography

With the release of her latest EPs “Distant Danger” and “Melt” – Nuela is solidifying herself as a Canadian music staple. Her singles “Do it Right” “Danger” and “Known Better” maintained steady ground on the CBC Radio Music charts, collectively spending over 21 weeks in the Top 20, and had “Do it Right” named as one of 2018’s Top 100 Canadian songs.

Nuela has brought her distinct voice to various stages over the last several years – having performed notably at Reeperbahn Festival in Germany, making her UK debut in London, and making her US debut at the uber-coveted “It’s A School Night” by personal invitation by tastemaker and KCRW radio host Chris Douridas. Over the last year, Nuela shared the stage as direct support for some of Canada’s musical icons – including Sam Roberts Band, Jann Arden and Stars.

With a nod from tastemaker FADER, placement on the hit show “Jane the Virgin” and some comfortable real estate on the CBC Music (Radio 2) charts, Charles is ready to release more of her fiery brand of cinematic soul.

“Melt” is the follow up to, and wrapping up of the “Distant Danger” musical chapter. It is the culmination of 2 years of creative work, and the regaining of creative power, diving into aspects of production and mixing that she never did before. Nuela was able to work with her producers to mould each song into its final form, not settling on any aspect of it and making sure that she believed in it 100%. “Melt” was nominated for 2020 JUNO Award for Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year.
