Darren is a Singapore-based sound artist and music composer who has 2 decades of experience in local theatre, film, contemporary dance and arts scenes, and has been involved in over 200 arts productions. To date, he has been nominated 18 times at the Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards, won Best Sound Design multiple times as well as received an Honourable Mention for Special Achievement for Best Sound. He was also conferred the Singapore National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award (music; multi-disciplinary practice) in 2012.

In 2008, he was selected to attend the Red Bull Music Academy held in Barcelona. Since then, he has been invited to perform solo in various prestigious music and arts festival such as SONAR (Barcelona, Spain), Zomerparkfeest (Venlo, Netherlands) and Wiener Festwochen (Vienna, Austria), to name a few.

A multi-instrumentalist trained in classical piano, he has been exploring re-interpretive playing and improvisations on various music instruments. An avid believer in subtractive methods and minimalism, he continues to find balance and co-relations between music and sound, blending acoustic instrumentation with the environment, found sounds, field recordings and acousmatics.
