Biography
Carmen Rizzo is a two-time Grammy-nominated artist, producer, and engineer/ mixer celebrated for his groundbreaking work in Electronic and World Music. Known for his rich sonic palette, Carmen has contributed to albums by iconic artists including Seal, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Paul Oakenfold, AR Rahman, Pete Townshend, Huun Huur Tu, and Dhani Harrison.
As an artist, Carmen releases music under his own name and through side projects such as Niyaz (which he co-founded), Didon, and Libella. His work as a composer includes scoring films for Oscar-winning directors Michael Apted and Stanley Brooks, as well as writing the end title for Sony PlayStation’s acclaimed game Uncharted 2.
A long-standing member of the Recording Academy, Carmen has served as both Trustee and Governor. He co-wrote pivotal Grammy categories, including “Best Electronic Album” and two Technical Grammys for Apple and Roger Linn, the inventor of the drum machine.
In addition to his music, Carmen is a sought-after speaker, having delivered two TEDx talks and hosted masterclasses worldwide. He is the founder of Electrofone Music, a label dedicated to nurturing and celebrating global sounds. His tech background allowed him to lead Artist Relations in North America for Native Instruments, further bridging the gap between technology and music.
