16th May 2025

Cannes Film Festival 2025 includes Films with various works of WiseMusic's catalogue and highlights artists and composers of numerous genres.
Like Eugen Jarecki's documentary film "The Six Billion Dollar Man" scored by Niklas Paschburg. Being a journalist has never been as dangerous as it is today, in a world where the defence of truth is under attack from all sides. This film traces the saga of journalist and whistleblower Julian Assange, a contemporary icon of the right to information, whose recent release from prison has reignited the global debate on press freedom. Thanks to privileged access to Wikileaks footage and archives and never-before-seen evidence, this documentary takes the form of a high-tech international thriller. Starring Julian Assange, Edward Snowden and Pamela Anderson as themselves, this film deals not just with freedom of the press but also with safety. It follows Assange's early days of WikiLeaks and also his legal battles, lasting over a decade. Paschburg describes "The Six Billion Dollar Man" as a project he's been "deeply involved over the past two years" via Instagram.
"Sentimental Value", a norwegian drama by Joachim Trier, has been scored by Hania Rani, also including a piece by Michael Nyman. The tragical comedy touches topics like family relationships and reapprochements of an estranged father to his adult children. "...I felt just truly special to work on the body of work that I genuinely admired, appreciated and ‘felt’..." Rani remembers, when announcing the score to her community via Instagram.
Other films are Richard Linklater's english/french work "Nouvelle Vague", telling the background story of the french gangsterfilm "À bout de souffle" (Breathless) and including music by Tom Adair and Matt Dennis.
"Alpha" by Juli Docourneau working with "Mercy Seat" by Nick Cave and Mack Harvey.
The historical drama "Two Prosecutors" by Sergei Loznitsa set in the soviet union and scoring with Shostakovich's "Counterplan Op. 33".
Or Amélie Bonnin's "Leave One Day" (Partir un jour). A tragical comedy including the song "Cecila ma fille" ba Claude Nougaro and Jacques Datin.
