8th October 2019
Ensemble Resonanz are set to release their new album Tenebre this Friday 11th October. The album, in collaboration with Bryce Dessner, features a selection of Dessner's most significant string compositions; Aheym, Dessner's original composition for the Kronos Quartet, is being released for the first time as an orchestral version; Tenebre, the title track, has been reworked into an orchestral piece, featuring vocals from Moses Sumney; Skrik Trio, previously co-commisioned by Steve Reich and Carnegie Hall for the composer's 80th birthday; and Lachrimae, Dessner's first compostion for the string orchestra, previously featured on Dessner's album St. Carolyn by the Sea. Dessner said of the album; 'When I first heard Ensemble Resonanz perform my music, the energy and precision of the group was somewhat shocking. It's like there's a fierceness to the sound, while retaining its depth'.
