The Inspector Cluzo

Biography

The bands 10th album, “Less Is More”, was once again recorded with Vance Powell (The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Seasick Steve) in Nashville in 2024. The album was recorded completely live in four days and mixed in three like bands such Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc were doing back in the 90’s. It took more than a year to write and rehearse hardly the new songs so that they sounded good in the studio.

Powell succeeded in catching the band tracksless, no-playback organic live energy which has made the band such a live tour de force for more than 20 years now making them being the hardest
French touring band worldwide (63 countries visited, more than 1300 gigs) confirmed by very renown bands such as Clutch, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Suicidal Tendencies. They also are respected for their songwritting as Mark Everett from The Eels invited them to open for him.
Echoing their work as organic farmers the band are intending to show that all TIC performances are played live, with no backing tracks, The Inspector Cluzo really is a truly organic live beast.

The concept of the album and all lyrics is inspired by Henry David Thoreau and Guy Debord. Henry David Thoreau was a 19th century American naturalist, essayist, poet, and philosopher – a leading transcendentalist known for his book “Walden” (one of the first ever ecologists and post growth theorists, the book is about his own experience living in solitude in a cabin in a forest for two years) and writer of “Civil Disobedience” (an argument in favour of citizen disobedience against an unjust state – a book that guided and informed both Martin Luther King and Gandhi).

« I heartily accept the motto,—'That government is best which governs least;' ... » (H. D. Thoreau)

Guy Debord was a famous 20th century French philosopher, best known for his 1967 essay “The Society Of the Spectacle”. Debord was deeply distressed by the hegemony of governments and media over everyday life through mass production, consumption and marketing, that was prophetic about the world we’re living in nowadays. "In a world which really is topsy-turvy, the true is a moment of the false." (Guy Debord)
The album deals with the bands very real concerns about Post-Growing that they apply at their organic Farm and also in the music business economy. Self-financed at 100% refusing to sign with any major or any hedge funds for touring. They mirror these farming principle’s in their dealings in the music business – such as making efforts to balance their carbon footprint.
You can feel the organix vortex in this album brought by the two blood brothers and brothers in ideals in life for 30 years now supported by their deep independance conviction.
This album will be release next June 6th on their own label F.the bass player records, 100 % self-financed, they are their own managers, booking agents and label managers.
They are not « Anti », they just wan to actually be in the XXIst century where everybody has to face the total social fact : the Climate Change and not rely on an infinite growth.
All details of how they apply their principle both in music and at the farm in www.theinspectorcluzo.com.
The band has been self-sufficient for 12 years now, sells his product at their born town Mont-de-Marsan local farmer market.

In addition to self-sufficiency, they grab carbon in the soil they work thanks to Agro-Ecologic techniques using green fertilizer which balance their carbon print when touring all over the world.

This album brings the question on the table : when you have enough why will you need more ? Less is more.
