Ngaiire

The Papua New Guinea-born, Australia-based artist is often described as a R&B and future soul-singer songwriter, and her collaborations have spanned multiple genres from neo-soul to hip hop and rap, synth and electro-pop, roots, jazz and blues.

Ngaiire’s sound has been expressed by Jordan Hirst of Music Feeds as “a combination of Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu's voices mixed with M.I.A.'s genre-bending sensibility”. Her original work has featured in multiple film and TV productions including Oprah/Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar, Kerry Washington’s Five Points and the Jennifer Lopez produced Good Trouble. As a featured artist, her electric vocals have contributed to productions such as BBC’s miniseries War and Peace with her unique version of “Love is A Battlefield”, as well as a cover of “Broken Wings” for director Sarah Spillane’s film Around The Block.

Having built a musical identity that transcends boundaries, genres and art forms, Ngaiire has also delved into the world of composition for dance companies, including the internationally celebrated trans-Indigenous Marrugeku Dance Company, creating works for the Art Gallery of NSW, and sound installations for Hobart’s MONA.A breathtaking theatrical performer with renowned vocals, tight beats and big pop sounds, Ngaiire has graced the stages of Splendour In The Grass through to Glastonbury. She has toured alongside artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Flume, Alicia Keys and John Legend.

Her countless accolades include four National Live Music Awards, an FBi Radio SMAC Award for Best Live Act, Australian Music Prize and AIR Award nominations for her 2016 release Blastoma and the inaugural Australian Women in Music Award for Artistic Excellence.
