Wise Music Australia welcomes composer Eden Mulholland
6 november 2025
Wise Music Australia (part of the Wise Music Group, a global independent music publisher) is delighted to announce the signing of New Zealand–born, Brisbane-based composer and collaborator Eden Mulholland to the Wise Music family. A former contemporary dancer turned multi-award-winning composer, Mulholland’s work spans theatre, contemporary dance, film, television and major live events, and reflects Wise Music’s evolving curatorial approach to its Australasian roster.
Mulholland now joins a local roster that includes songwriters and composers such as Ngaiire, William Barton, Holly Harrison, Beks, Nick Wales, GODTET’s David Rodriguez and Alter Boy - each supported by a local Wise Music team committed to tailored, hands-on creative and administrative support.
“Eden is one of those rare composers who can hold an audience in a theatre, a stadium and a cinema with his music,” says Managing Director Jane English. “His background in contemporary dance, his Māori heritage, and his life as a recording artist all live inside his work - it’s physical, emotional and deeply cinematic. He absolutely embodies the kind of cross-genre, story-first composer we want Wise Music to represent.”
Director of Creative & Licensing Cathy Nelson-Williams adds: “We’re thrilled to officially welcome Eden to Wise Music. His scores for world-class dance and theatre companies, his work on screen projects, and his role in globally visible events like the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup opening ceremony make him a powerful addition to our international catalogue. Eden’s voice fits beautifully alongside our existing roster, and we’re excited to help amplify his music across new stages and screens worldwide.”
Eden Mulholland
Of Ngāti Porou descent and originally from Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, Eden Mulholland is widely regarded as one of Australasia’s leading contemporary composers for theatre, dance and screen. A trained ballet and contemporary dancer, he performed with companies including Touch Compass and Black Grace before shifting his focus to composing - a background that gives his music an instinctive sense of movement, space and physicality.
Working from his studio in Brisbane, Mulholland has created scores for an extensive range of companies and choreographers, including Atamira Dance Company, the New Zealand Dance Company, Co3 Contemporary Dance, and long-time collaborator Malia Johnston and her collective Movement of the Human. Notable works include the multi-award-winning dance-theatre piece Meremere which wowed audiences at the Sydney Opera House, Archives of Humanity for Co3, large-scale public work TŌRUA for CubaDupa and HOTA on the Gold Coast, and numerous ballet and contemporary works with choreographer Sarah Foster-Sproull.
Eden’s screen and major-event credits are equally expansive. He has served as Musical Director and Composer for New Zealand’s largest theatrical event, the World of WearableArt Awards Show in Wellington for multiple seasons and composed music for the globally broadcast opening ceremony of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Recent screen work includes the TVNZ drama series The Pact, feature film The Keeper, and the critically acclaimed stage work BELLE - A PERFORMANCE OF AIR, alongside standalone releases such as “The Wild Wind”, drawn from The Pact’s soundtrack.
Beyond his composition for stage and screen, Mulholland maintains a rich life as a recording artist. As a solo artist, he has released several acclaimed albums showcasing his emotive, experimental sound. A founding member and front-person of the indie-rock band Motocade, he toured internationally and appeared at festivals including CMJ, Big Day Out and Homegrown.
Recognition for Eden’s work includes multiple theatre awards, along with a host of festival and industry honours across Aotearoa and Australia. With his signing to Wise Music Australia, Mulholland’s immersive, collaborative sound worlds are set to reach new audiences and creative partners across the globe.
