Lola - Composer & Sound Design Showreel

Biography

For Lola, music is only one part of a beautiful and brutal equation. The artist, composer, sound designer & mix engineer creates bespoke sound for visual medium, spanning fashion show runway music, film and commercial. “Music can be quite hallucinatory for me,” she explains. “Whenever I’m creating, I think about the cinematic nature of worldbuilding.”

In her scoring work, Lola pairs analogue synthesizers with acoustic historical / world instruments, blending past and future sounds by utilising technology in a way uniquely her own. Growing up between the lush, native forests and rivers of New Zealand’s rural South Island and the mediaeval landmarks of North East England – Lola’s creative identity was shaped from this state of duality.

Now based in London, Lola’s recent work includes Berlin FW, Mercedes, Rapha, NZFW, guerilla fashion week Āhua, as well as short films directed by Ash Halliburton, James Coyle & Eva Blackwell-Rogelj. In the summer she is set to unveil ‘Hands of The Machine’, an artist project with Carmen Rizzo (Ryuichi Sakamoto, Seal).
