9 október 2025

Wise Music Italy has signed an agreement with the Italian music icon Umberto Tozzi, acquiring worldwide publishing rights, in relation to his shares, of five unreleased songs that will be included in his forthcoming double album:
- Vento d’Aprile
- Inevitabilmente
- Eroi
- Io e te nell’infinito
- Un tricheco al sole
Umberto Tozzi has become an icon of Italian music thanks to his timeless hits which globally exceeded 80 million records sold. It’s impossible not to mention his global smash hit “Gloria”, featured in the soundtracks of Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” and the cult film “Flashdance” directed by Adrian Lyne. The song brought Tozzi’s name overseas, thanks to Laura Branigan’s 1982 cover version, which hit N° 1 on the U.S. Charts and remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks.
Other major hits include: “Ti amo”, “Si può dare di più”, “Gli altri siamo noi”, “Gente di mare”, “Dimmi di no”, “Stella stai”, “Donna amante mia”, “Claridad” (recorded by Luis Fonsi) and “Eva”, made famous across Latin America by Ivete Sangalo.
In 1982, Tozzi received the Golden Globe, awarded for over 27 million records sold in just five years and was nominated for a Grammy Award thanks to Laura Branigan’s performance of “Gloria.” After winning the Sanremo Music Festival in 1987 with “Si può dare di più” alongside with Gianni Morandi and Enrico Ruggeri, he reached the third place at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest with “Gente di Mare” performed with Raf. In 1994, he won Festivalbar again with “Io muoio di te".
Another example of how Umberto Tozzi’s art has always transcended geographical, temporal, and cultural boundaries is the impressive number of films and TV series that have used his songs in their soundtracks over the past 50 years:
• "I Nuovi Mostri” by Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, and Ettore Scola (1977)
• “Flashdance” by Adrian Lyne (1983)
• “Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra” by Alain Chabat (2002)
