Biographie
Dobrawa Czocher (1991) is a Polish cellist and composer born into a musical family who started playing at the age of 7. She soon became inseparable from the cello and from there it was a natural decision to dedicate her life to music. She is graduate of two prestigious music universities: Chopin University of Music in Warsaw as a student of Professor Piotr Hausenplas’s class and Hochschule für Musik in Detmold in Germany under Professor Alexander Gebert. She has won many competitions as a soloist and chamber musician, and has also participated in numerous international master classes and music festivals. In the years 2018 - 2023 she was a member of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Symphony Orchestra in Szczecin (Poland) acting as a leader - soloist.
As a musician Czocher loves to expand the spectrum of cello sounds, oscillating between classical and contemporary music. Her long career as an award-winning solo, chamber and orchestra musician means she feels comfortable mixing philharmonic music with more alternative approaches. Her major talent is to combine perfect cello technique with limitless imagination and expression. For many years she has been collaborating with friend and pianist Hania Rani. The duo released their debut album “Biała flaga” in 2015, which brought them recording success in Poland and led to international release of their first fully composed album "Inner Symphonies", which was released in 2021 by the legendary Deutsche Grammophon label and thus established both artists as the youngest composer duo in the history of the label.
In 2023, Dobrawa Czocher released her debut solo album "Dreamscapes" on the BMG / Modern Recordings label, which presents her own compositions for cello. In the same year, the album was nominated in six categories of the prestigious German Opus Klassik award, including instrumentalist of the year and composer of the year categories. The artist presented her original music in numerous concert halls in Europe, e.g. in London, Berlin, Leipzig, Utrecht and many more. Since the release of "Inner Symphonies" in 2021, the artist has been consistently expanding her compositional achievements by writing music for theater plays and musical installations.
